How flower is sold
Flower is priced by weight. The sizes you will see on our menu are the eighth (3.5g), the quarter (7g), the half ounce (14g) and the full ounce (28g). Larger sizes almost always cost less per gram, but there is a good reason not to jump straight to an ounce: cannabis is a perishable agricultural product. Bought in bulk and stored badly, it dries out and loses aroma within a few weeks.
If you are trying a strain for the first time, an eighth is the sensible unit. It is enough to form a real opinion without committing to a month of something you may not enjoy.
Onset and duration
Inhaled cannabis takes effect quickly — typically within one to ten minutes — and the experience usually settles after one to three hours. That fast feedback is exactly why flower suits people who are still learning what they like. You can take one small inhalation, wait ten minutes, and decide whether you want more. Edibles do not give you that option.
Indica, sativa and hybrid
Our menu labels flower as indica, sativa, hybrid, or a lean such as sativa hybrid. Treat these as a rough starting point rather than a rule. Modern cannabis genetics are thoroughly crossbred, and the effects people report track more closely with a strain's terpene and cannabinoid profile than with its shelf label.

Storing it properly
Keep flower in an airtight container, out of direct light, at room temperature. Heat and light degrade cannabinoids and drive off the terpenes that carry a strain's aroma. The plastic bag it came in is fine for a few days and poor for a few weeks. A small glass jar in a cupboard will keep an eighth in good shape for well over a month.
Common questions
How much flower can I buy at once in Massachusetts?
Adults 21 and over may possess up to one ounce of cannabis in public, and up to ten ounces at home. That one-ounce figure is the practical ceiling on a single retail purchase of flower.
Do I need a medical card?
No. Hometown Harvest is an adult-use dispensary. You need to be 21 or older with a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID.
What is shake?
Shake is the smaller loose material that separates from whole buds. It is the same plant, usually cheaper per gram, and works well for rolling. See shake in our glossary.
